In a nutshell: Clerkenwell Design Week 2018

Time whizzes by. It seems like only yesterday, but already it’s been eight whole weeks since we officially launched ourselves into the contract market with our new collection and website at Clerkenwell Design Week. So, how was it? And what have we been up to since? (how long have you got?!)

New beginnings

Roger Lewis is well-known within the retail market, making furniture for the likes of John Lewis, Heals and Anthropologie, but this was really the first time we were pushing our name as a brand in the contract market, targeting Corporate & Hospitality projects.

The reception we got for both the company as a whole and the two new ranges we were showcasing on the stand was quite honestly overwhelming. Being relative newcomers to the contract market we were delighted by just how many people commented on our furniture and wanted to learn about our history as a quality British brand, as well as the future of our business.

Valuable advice

We’re a sociable bunch and we love to talk. CDW allowed us to speak with hundreds of new faces over the three days, from interior designers, architects and specifiers to design-loving members of the public, and the contacts we made during the show have been priceless. It’s a very welcoming industry and people were also keen to offer their advice when asked – we found it was extremely useful to hear feedback on the products, which (luckily) tended to be glowing! Loads of people got to park up on our furniture to rest their legs and see for themselves just how comfy the pieces really are.

Meetings galore

Since showing at CDW we’ve been super busy travelling to London and across the UK for meetings with many of the contacts we met at the show, as well as numerous personal recommendations as a result of the impressions the furniture, and the brand, made on people.

The start of some beautiful client relationships

We’ve been excited to bring on board some fantastic new clients and meet with their awesome teams. We love building up these relationships – we get to know our clients and they get to know our team, understanding our brand by learning more about our products and business values. Over the next few months we’ll be focusing on our weekly visits across the UK, meeting our new and existing clients.

Any excuse for a drink

We now have samples immediately available for client review meetings and we’re hosting ‘Lunch & Learns’ as well as cocktail evenings at our clients’ offices. We’re excited to get some people drunk and have some fun! Always thinking ahead
