Blazing a trail at Clerkenwell Design Week 2019

Trail blazing

The countdown is on to what is undoubtedly one of the design world’s most renowned events.

With Clerkenwell Design Week opening its doors on 21 May, we’re just six weeks away from kicking off an exciting programme of activity.

Set to be the best yet, this year’s festival marks business milestones for both the festival – celebrating 10 years since its inception – and Roger Lewis – with 30 years under our belt.

With this in mind, we couldn’t think of a better time to reveal our new bespoke product offering, The Customizer app.

Endless possibilities

An ‘industry first’ it combines cutting-edge technology with craftsmanship, allowing users to create truly bespoke pieces for clients.

Designers are encouraged to stretch their imagination to see their own artwork printed onto the finest fabric before being hand-upholstered to our popular Sintra chair.

During the event, visitors can try the app for themselves on stand DF19 – located in Design Fields – to create their very own unique pieces.

Raising the stakes

To ramp things up a notch, we’ve invited three renowned design studios, Hassell, Peldon Rose and Tribe Furniture to be the first to use the new technology.

A team of designers from each of the studios has been tasked with developing a completely bespoke design that represents their individual practice. And, once created, the artwork will be printed and hand-upholstered to three separate Sintra chairs.

After an exclusive unveiling ceremony on day one of Clerkenwell Design Week, the three creations will go head-to-head on our stand, with visitors encouraged to vote for their favourite.

With just six weeks to go, the competition is hotting up!

From factory floor to festival

Alongside the launch of The Customizer, we’ll be bringing some key elements from our Wiltshire-based factory to the stand, as well as a hero selection of our latest products.

This will include the Sintra and Onyar pieces, providing visitors the opportunity to view the fine detailing up close.

In addition to these core ranges, a never-before-seen collection designed by the highly acclaimed designer Richard Jones will offer festival-goers an exclusive first look – not to be missed.

Our design director, Nick Lewis, will also be on-hand to answer any questions and offer more detail around the inspiration for our classic pieces.
